Vernon rallies to beat Bridgeport

Vernon scored 14 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to upend Bridgeport 44-40 Friday night.

B.T. White scored the go-ahead touchdown with 7:47 left to put the Lions up for good. White tallied 120 yards on 26 carries, accounting for four Vernon touchdowns. He ran for three and threw for one.

The Bulls held a 26-16 lead going into halftime on the back of a 76-yard touchdown run by Bridgeport quarterback Jadon Maddux. He ended the game with 182 yards and three touchdowns on 12 carries.

Maddux also threw two touchdown passes to Nolan Hernandez, who hauled in eight passes for 103 yards. Vernon intercepted Maddux in the waning moments of the fourth quarter with the Bulls driving to seal the win.

Bridgeport fell to 5-3 overall and 1-2 in District 3-4A Division II with the loss.
