Track: Yellowjackets, Sissies win Boyd Invitational

The Boyd Yellowjackets won the Boyd Invitational Thursday.

Boyd finished with 99 points to bring home the title. The Bridgeport boys finished fourth, Paradise sixth and Alvord seventh.

The Bridgeport Sissies garnered the top prize in the girls division with 118 points. Paradise notched a fourth-place finish, while Boyd earned seventh. The Chico Lady Dragons were ninth and the Alvord Lady Bulldogs 10th.

Boyd’s Emmanuel Garcia won the 800, clocking a time of 2:12.63. Paradise’s Matthew Elsen finished second, narrowly missing out on the gold. He finished two one-hundredths of a second behind Garcia in 2:12.65.

Jadon Maddux earned silver for the Bulls in the 400 in 52.92.

Boyd’s Connor Richardson took home gold in the 1,600, pacing the field with a 4:46.02. Richardson went on to win the 3,200, clocking a 10:25.99.

Bridgeport won the 4×100 in 44.87. Alvord finished third, posting a mark of 45.06.

In the 4×200, Boyd took gold in 1:36.49. Alvord again claimed bronze in 1:36.63.

The Yellowjackets went on to win the 4×400, turning in a 3:34.27.

In the high jump, Paradise’s Bonner Brackeen won gold, clearing 5-10. Tanner Richey earned bronze with a leap of 5-8.

Boyd’s Robert Barber won the pole vault, clearing 11-6. Steele Pena of Bridgeport got third with a leap of 9-6.

Alejando Silva brought home a bronze for the Yellowjackets in the shot put, launching a throw of 41-7.

Brackeen won the 110 hurdles, finishing the race in 16.33. His teammate, Angus Pace, received bronze for his 17.64.

On the girls side, Melanie Guzman of Bridgeport claimed silver in the 400 with a time of 1:04.85.

Paradise’s Hannah Beth Pearson finished second in the 1,600, clocking a 5:50.75. Marisol Fraga brought home the bronze in 5:51.57.

Fraga also took third in the 3,200, finishing in 13:02.45.

In the 100 hurdles, Bridgeport’s Morgen Davidson took home gold. Boyd’s Abby Taylor finished third. In the 300 hurdles, Paradise’s Maddie Mitchke won gold in 48.51 seconds. Davidson got second with a 50.82.

The Lady Panthers won the 4×100 in 52.39. Bridgeport finished second. The Chico Lady Dragons got second in the 4×200 in 1:56.66. The Sissies got third.

In the 4×400, Paradise again came out on top, crossing the finish line in 4:24.85. Chico got second and Bridgeport third.

Jacey Cate of Boyd took second in the high jump, clearing 4-10. Bridgeport’s Savannah Tuggle won the pole vault with a leap of 8-1.

In shot put, Bridgeport’s Ashley Ingram won with a toss of 31-7.5. Alvord’s Allison Ricketts got second and Bridgeport’s Makenna Farrow third. Farrow also finished second in discus, launching a throw of 96-2.
