Track: Thomas takes silver, advances to state

Alvord’s Christina Thomas claimed silver in the discus and advanced to state Saturday at the 2A Region II meet in Springtown.

She landed a personal best throw of 120-5.

She will compete in the 2A discus final at the UIL State Championships May 12 at the University of Texas at Austin.

Thomas also tied for fourth in the high jump, clearing 4-10.

Chico’s Adafne Chavez took bronze in the 400, clocking a 1:02.85.

Alvord’s Jocelyn Tambunga finished fourth in the 100 hurdles in 16.63. She was fifth in the 300 hurdles in 49.87.

Colton Parker finished fifth in the 400 for the Bulldogs with a 52.94. Alvord’s 4×100 relay team of Ransom Klein, Tanner Richey, Shea Buckaloo and Clayton Machal took sixth with a 44.29.
