Track: Decatur claims silver at Azle meet

Both the Decatur boys and girls track teams finished second at the Azle relays Thursday.

The boys claimed silver with 126.5 points. The girls narrowly missed out on gold. The Lady Eagles scored 115 points, trailing first-place Azle by a single point.

The girls won the 4×100. Autumn Finney, Mallory Downe, Macy Downe and Kallie Boner finished with a time of 49.99 seconds. The Lady Eagles also won the 4×400 as Finney, Taylor Butler, Makenzie Fox and Mackenzie Whitaker tallied a time of 4:13.

Finney earned another gold medal in the 1600 sprint medley, joining Boner, Butler and Shylee Dubois to clock a 4:35.18.

In the girls high jump, Whitaker placed second, clearing five feet. Mallory Downe took second in the long jump with an effort of 16-3.

On the boys side, the Eagles finished second in the 4×400. Cameron Hale, Tristan Read, Christian Isaac and Angel Mendoza ran a 3:35.44.

Decatur picked up a gold medal in the 4×800, as Isaac, Read, Sergio Sanchez and Marco Rodriguez finished with a time of 7:46.12.

In the distance medley, Gabe Ebree, Holden Hacker, Alan Rangel and Sanchez finished first, setting the pace with an 11:13.78.

Isaac Hacker won the triple jump, flying 43-8.5. Charles Doubrava captured the discus with a toss of 131-8.
