Swimming: Lady Eagles take eighth

The Decatur Lady Eagles swim team finished eighth at the Region II 5A swimming championships Friday and Saturday at the Mansfield ISD Natatorium.

The Eagles placed 18th.

Several swimmers finished eighth place or higher, which allowed them to take the podium during awards.

Zach Levesque finished fifth in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:07.34. The girls 200-yard freestyle relay team consisting of Jennifer Morehart, Claire Mallory, Lizey and Milly Rowden also finished fifth.

“The swim team finished their season on a strong note,” said coach Amy Chabek. “I am proud of the commitment and drive my swimmers have put in this season and am thrilled for what next season holds.”

Other swimmers who finished on the podium with a ribbon were Lizey Rowden, who placed seventh in the 50 freestyle with a time of 26.73 seconds and Milly Rowden, who came in eighth in the 100 butterfly in 1:06.9.
