Softball: Lady Eagles rock Gainesville

Decatur throttled Gainesville 16-0 to stay perfect in District 9-4A. The Lady Eagles are 8-0 in league play with two games left in the regular season.


Krum routed Bridgeport 13-0 in five innings.

Katelyn McComis took the loss for the Sissies. She gave one five runs on five hits over one and two-thirds innings. Alexa Holzer entered in relief and surrendered eight runs on four hits.

Holzer, Morgen Davidson and Emerson Coleman had the Sissies’ three hits. Bridgeport committed four errors in the loss.

The Sissies dropped to 1-7 in District 9-4A. Bridgeport will host Argyle Tuesday.


The Lady Jackets came away with a crucial victory over rival Paradise, pulling out a 2-1 road win in extra innings.

Boyd took a 1-0 lead into the sixth inning until Keylee Winters tied the game on a single.

Kendall Candioto and Kristin Rasbury battled it out in the circle. They both went nine innings. Candioto threw 144 pitches. Rasbury threw 157.

Candioto surrendered the winning run in the top of the ninth when Kristen Whatley tripled on a 2-1 count. It was Whatley’s only hit of the game.

Rasbury and Sydney Longley had multi-hit games for Boyd.

The Lady Panthers fell to 15-7 overall and 8-4 in District 8-3A. Paradise has lost four of its last five.

The Lady Jackets improved to 7-5 in league play. Boyd is one game back of first place.

Boyd will travel to Nocona Tuesday. The Lady Panthers will travel to Wichita Falls City View.


Alvord cruised to a 14-3 victory over Chico and moved into the fourth playoff spot in District 11-2A.

The Lady Bulldogs improved to 7-5 in league play with two games remaining.

Gracie Gose got the start for Alvord. She went three and one-thirds innings, allowing three runs on six hits.

Laynee North took the loss for Chico. She surrendered 14 runs on 14 hits.

The Lady Dragons fell to 4-7 in district. Chico will travel to Collinsville Tuesday.

Alvord will travel to Lindsay.
