The Boyd Lady Jackets forced a three-way tie for the final two playoff spots in District 8-3A after winning six of their last seven games.
Boyd dropped the first game of the tiebreaker on Monday, falling to Paradise 5-0. But when the Lady Panthers turned around and beat Bowie, the Lady Jackets got one more chance to earn a postseason berth Tuesday.
Boyd couldn’t take advantage, falling to Bowie 3-1.
Senior Kristin Rasbury got the start in the circle with a trip to the postseason on the line. She pitched a complete game, scattering three runs on seven hits. She struck out five.
Boyd and Bowie were tied at one going to the top of the seventh. The Lady Rabbits broke the deadlock with a one-out triple by Taylor McCarty that plated a run. Bowie added an insurance run on an error to go up by a pair of runs.
The Lady Jackets had the No. 6, 7 and 8 hitters due up in the bottom of the seventh, but all three struck out.
Boyd ended the season 10-19 overall, finishing fifth place in district.
