Thursday at the District 7-3A championships, Boyd ended the drought.

Behind a third and fourth-place finish Mary Miller and Tania Ramirez, Boyd took third as a team at the 7-3A meet and advanced to the Region I championships in Lubbock on Oct. 22.

“The girls ran well,” said Boyd coach Oscar Hernandez. “Our top three ran really well. It was a six-point swing. I told them every place matters. Hats off to Paradise. Their first two girls ran fantastic.”

Miller ran a 13:02.42 to claim bronze while Ramirez finished in 13:03.16 for fourth. The Lady Jackets had not qualified for regionals since winning district in 2010.
