Golf: Hudson grabs two-stroke advantage

Bridgeport senior Katie Hudson was the leader in the clubhouse after the first round of the District 9-4A tournament Friday.

Hudson carded a 76 and had a two-stroke lead on Lebanon Trail’s Olivia Mitchell.

The Sissies are in third place as a team and shot a 387. Taite Read fired a 97 for Bridgeport. Veronica Valdez shot 106, Maycie Cortez 108 and Jaylon Mogus 122.

The Sissies trail Lebanon Trail (330) and Argyle (358).

The Decatur Lady Eagles are in fourth and shot 465 as a team. Kylie Raymond led the way with a 105. Abby Grimes turned in a 109 and Lauren Denny 123. Riley Leonard and Madelyn Thompson scored 128 each.

On the boys side, the Eagles’ blue team is in second place. They fired a 368 as a team.

Dayne Chapman led Decatur with an 81. Ian Carporale fired a 91. Isaac Ille carded a 96. Caleb Bennett shot a 100. Cade Montgomery fired a 106.

The Decatur white squad is in fifth with a 430. Layton Harris and Luke House shot 100s. Ty Hammer and Marcus Semmelman hit 115s. Colby Bryan scored 125.

Cole Barton shot an 87 for Bridgeport. The Bulls hit 470 as a team.

Camden Hand shot 122, Christian Armstrong 128 and Kirby Russell 133.
