Chapman qualified for state two weeks ago after winning a two-hole playoff at the 4A Region II tournament.

“I’ve been practicing a lot getting ready for it,” Chapman said. “I’m very excited to go.”

Chapman finished third at the District 9-4A meet last month and took fourth overall at region, advancing as an individual medalist. He carded a round-best 70 on the final day of the district tournament at Robson Ranch.

At regionals two weeks later, Chapman shot a 153 over two days. On the final day at Van Zandt Country Club, he fired a 75 and finished the final four holes without his driver, which broke on the 15th.

Chapman advanced to regionals last year as a freshman.

He will tee off at 9:15 a.m. Monday in the opening round of the state tournament.

“It’s been a dream come true to go to state and compete for my school and my teammates,” Chapman said. “I can’t wait to get down there and play.”
