Jacob Webster and Carson Hughes fought their way around the Old Settlers Course in Round Rock at the state meet last fall in a hot, sultry morning.

Webster finished the 5A race in 16:26 to finish 58th. Hughes took 64th in 16:29.

Both return to lead the Northwest Texans this season.

The Texans will have a new coach. Jerry Carter takes over for Josh Allen, who left for Keller Timber Creek earlier this summer.

Behind seniors Webster and Hughes, the Texans will be a young team. Several freshmen are expected to compete for spots with four other returners.

The Lady Texans will also be young after graduating three of their top seven from last year’s squad. The girls will be bringing in impactful freshmen Carys Bowler and Rachel Plummer.
