Boyd wins Burkburnett Tournament

The Boyd Lady Jackets won the Cool in Boomtown Tournament in Burkburnett for the third year in a row, beating Windthorst 25-20, 25-16 to take home the title.

Boyd went 7-0 in the tournament, knocking off Benjamin, Borger, Wichita Falls Hirschi, Whitesboro, Archer City and Pampa en route to the championship.

Larrin Maxwell led the team in digs with 59 over seven games. Victoria Pellegrini added 150 assists. Jordyn Todd buried 57 kills and Delaney Pellegrini 51.

The Lady Jackets improved to 8-0 on the season. They took on Christ’s Academy Tuesday.


Bridgeport went 2-1 and took second in the silver bracket at the Cool in Boomtown Tournament in Burkburnett.

The Sissies fell to Notre Dame 2-1 (21-25. 25-20, 19-25) in the first game but rallied to beat Mineral Wells and Borger 2-0.

Kristen Grooms recorded five kills in the win over Borger and seven against Mineral Wells. She added 37 digs in both victories.

Bridgeport moved to 3-1 on the season. The Sissies traveled to Azle Tuesday.


The Decatur Lady Eagles went 2-4 at the Adidas John Turner Classic in Pearland over the weekend.

Decatur swept Barber’s Hill (25-16, 25-15, 25-18) and Melissa (25-19, 25-17, 25-23) and lost to Hebron, Ursuline, George Ranch and Bellaire.

Alyssa Wallace led the Lady Eagles in digs, recording 89 in four games. Trinity Vinzant put down 38 kills. Makenna Gantt served five aces and buried 25 kills.

Decatur moved to 3-4 on the season. They traveled to The Colony Tuesday.


The Paradise Lady Panthers dropped their second match of the season to Castleberry Friday 3-2 (25-21, 25-21. 16-25, 23-25, 8-15).

Danae Meadows led Paradise in kills with 10. Dori Skogberg added 11 assists and six aces in the loss.

The loss dropped Paradise to 0-2 on the season. They play in the Glen Rose Tournament starting Thursday.

Maddie Hager earned all-tournament honors, notching 18 aces, 12 kills and 20 digs.

Chico is back in action Tuesday against Collinsville.
