Basketball: Sissies hand Sanger first hoops loss

Emily Vidal scored a game-high 18 points and the Bridgeport Sissies handed Sanger its first loss in District 9-4A, routing the Lady Indians 52-29.

Bridgeport held Sanger to just 12 first-half points, jumping out to a 28-12 halftime lead. The Sissies continued to pour it on in the second half, stifling the Lady Indians’ offense.

Ashley Ingram added 10 points for the Sissies.

Bridgeport improved to 5-3 in District 9-4A play and took a firm hold on third place.

The Sissies hosted rival Decatur Friday.


No Decatur player scored more than seven points as Argyle ran by Decatur 50-23.

Argyle held Decatur scoreless in the third quarter and took a 38-16 lead into the fourth quarter.

Kylee Fitzgerald led Decatur in scoring with seven. Three different Argyle players finished in double figures, led by Rhylee McKinney, who had 14.

Decatur fell to 1-7 in District 9-4A play. Decatur needed a win over Bridgeport Friday to avoid being eliminated from playoff contention.


A balanced scoring attack led Paradise past Henrietta 53-37.

Three different Lady Panthers finished in double figures, led by Hunter Rogers, who had 12.

Kaycee Martin finished with 11 points, five assists and six steals. Maddie Mitschke ended with 10 points, six rebounds and five assists.

Paradise took a 29-16 lead into halftime and never relinquished it. The Lady Panthers outscored Henrietta in every quarter.

Paradise moved to 18-10 overall and 8-4 in District 8-3A. The Lady Panthers traveled to Holliday Friday.


The Boyd Lady Jackets topped City View 62-34.

Macey McCune led Boyd in scoring with 12 ,while Meagan Terry finished with 11.

Seven different players made entries into the scoresheet, as the Lady Jackets overwhelmed City View from the opening tip.

Boyd held a double-digit lead going into the third quarter and only added to it. Jules Tullos finished with 10. Paytin Bullard, Abby Hays and Sydnee Stanley each had nine.

The Lady Jackets improved to 7-20 overall and 3-9 in District 8-3A. Boyd traveled to Jacksboro Friday.


The Alvord Lady Bulldogs handled Chico 49-24.

Alvord held the Lady Dragons to 13 points in the first half, never allowing Chico’s offense to get into a rhythm.

Paycee Edgett and Miranda Smith each had 12 for the Lady Bulldogs. Smith knocked down two 3-pointers.

Laynee North had six points for Chico.

Alvord improved to 6-2 in District 11-2A with the win. The Lady Bulldogs traveled to Muenster Friday.
