Basketball: Sissies blast Gainesville

Ashley Ingram exploded for 27 points as the Bridgeport Sissies thumped Gainesville 70-43.

Bridgeport took a 35-16 lead into halftime and never relinquished, pouring it on in the second half.

Emily Vidal was the Sissies’ second-leading scorer with 10 points. Eight different Bridgeport players scored in the victory.

The win moves Bridgeport to 14-4 on the year and 1-1 in District 9-4A play.


Kaycee Martin hit a contested layup with under three seconds remaining to preserve Paradise’s winning streak as the Lady Panthers downed Holliday 38-36.

Martin finished with a game-high 20 points in the win, scoring more than half of Paradise’s points.

The Lady Panthers held a lead for most of the fourth quarter, but the Lady Eagles managed to tie things up with under a minute left. Paradise then took the clock to under 10 seconds before coach Chad Woodard drew up a play to earn the Lady Panthers the win.

Maddie Mitschke narrowly missed notching her third straight double-double, ending the night with 11 points, nine rebounds and five assists. Hunter Rogers added six points.

Paradise moved to 15-7 on the year and 5-1 in District 8-3A play.


Alvord held Poolville to just one point in the fourth quarter as the Lady Bulldogs took down the Lady Monarchs 47-34.

Miranda Smith led the way for Alvord, scoring a game-high 22 points.

Trailing by two at halftime, the Lady Bulldogs buckled down defensively in the second half, outscoring Poolville 24-9 in the final two quarters. Alvord held a slight edge on the glass, outrebounding the Lady Monarchs 28-27.

Alvord shot 34 percent from the field in the victory. The Lady Bulldogs moved to 9-11 on the season.

Alvord played Chico Friday.
