Basketball: Lady Panthers hold off Henrietta

Maddie Mitschke recorded her second consecutive double-double as the Paradise Panthers beat Henrietta 53-46.

Mitschke finished with 23 points, 10 rebounds and four assists in the win.

After a strong first half, Paradise took a commanding 36-15 lead into halftime. The Lady Bearcats chipped away, cutting the deficit to single digits by the fourth quarter.

KRUM 42, DECATUR 36

The Krum Lady Bobcats knocked off the Decatur Lady Eagles 42-36 Friday night in the District 9-4A opener.

Krum outscored Decatur 18-4 in the fourth quarter as the Lady Eagles were unable to hold an eight-point lead.

Gracie Isham led Decatur in scoring with 12 points. Kylee Fitzgerald scored eight.

BOYD 62, CITY VIEW 23

The Boyd Lady Jackets thumped City View 62-23 Friday behind a game-high 17 points from Paytin Bullard.

The Lady Jackets held City View to just eight points in the second half. Boyd outscored the Lady Mustangs 31-8 in the final two quarters.

“We came out aggressive and played hard,” said Boyd coach Erica Warner. “We finally started making our layups.”

Abby Hays finished second in scoring for the Lady Jackets with 13 points. Sydney Stanley chipped in eight points.
