The Paradise Lady Panthers’ five-game winning streak ended Friday in a nail-biter against Jacksboro, 43-42.

Paradise was unable to overcome a six-point halftime deficit in the loss, as only two Lady Panthers scored in the first two quarters.

Kaycee Martin led Paradise in scoring with 10 points. Harley Mayfield added nine points. Hunter Rogers and Maddie Mitschke combined for 16 points and 20 rebounds.

The loss drops the Lady Panthers to 15-8 on the year and 5-2 in District 8-3A play. Paradise traveled to Nocona on Tuesday.

Paytin Bullard’s game-high 33 points were not enough for Boyd, as the Lady Jackets dropped a hard-fought game on the road to Holliday 64-62.

Despite being held scoreless in the first quarter, Bullard quickly found her footing, exploding for 17 points in the second quarter alone.

“Bullard did a great job for us tonight and played well,” said Boyd coach Erica Warner.

Early foul trouble eventually doomed Boyd, as the Lady Jackets allowed Holliday to shoot 20 first-half free throws. Boyd then clawed back, leading by as many as six in the third quarter. Critical turnovers swung momentum back to the Lady Eagles, as Holliday turned the Lady Jackets’ miscues into points.

Boyd falls to 1-5 in District 8-3A with the loss.

Bailey Meyer scored 22 points and the Slidell Lady Greyhounds routed GoldBurg 53-19.

Slidell dominated the first quarter to quickly pull ahead, holding the Lady Bears scoreless through the first eight minutes.

The Lady Greyhounds outscored GoldBurg 31-2 in the first half, leading from wire-to-wire.

Cate Zuniga scored 21 points for the Lady Hounds. Zuniga and Meyer combined to score 43 of the Lady Greyhounds’ 53 points.

Slidell improves to 16-6 and 5-0 in District 21-A play with the win. The Lady Greyhounds took on Saint Jo Tuesday.
