Baseball: No. 1 Argyle beats Decatur

No. 1 Argyle stayed undefeated Tuesday, routing Decatur 11-1 in six innings.

Starter Beau Bedford surrendered nine runs on six hits in three innings. Only four of the runs were earned. The Eagles committed four errors on the night.

Chase Oberle threw two and two-thirds innings of relief. He scattered two runs on two hits, striking out five.

Decatur managed just four hits. Triston Read drove in the Eagles’ only run of the game. He went 1-for-3 at the dish.

Decatur fell to 4-5 in District 9-4A. The Eagles hosted rival Bridgeport Friday in the regular season finale.


Bridgeport snapped a four-game losing skid with an 11-8 victory over Sanger Tuesday.

The Bulls improved to 3-6 in District 9-4A. Bridgeport traveled to Decatur Friday for the regular season finale.


Jacksboro narrowly edged Paradise 2-1 Tuesday night.

The Panthers dropped to 7-6 in District 8-3A. Paradise hosted Bowie Friday in the regular season finale.

If the Panthers beat the Rabbits, they will clinch the fourth and final playoff spot in 8-3A. If Paradise loses, they will tie Henrietta and have a one-game playoff at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in Graford.


Boyd could not catch up to Henrietta, falling to the Bearcats 9-4.

The Yellowjackets hosted Jacksboro Friday. If Boyd wins, they will finish second in District 8-3A. If the Yellowjackets lose, they will finish third.

Boyd is 9-4 in district and 15-13-1 overall.
