Baseball: Kaufman blanks Decatur

The Decatur Eagles could not scratch across a run against Kaufman Saturday, falling 2-0.

Bodi Rascon started the game for Decatur, surrendering one run on one hit. He struck out four.

Rascon was relieved by Nick Birmingham in the fourth winning. He pitched four innings, giving up one run on three hits.

Triston Read, Wilson Hicks, Cole Davis and Dayne Chapman collected hits for Decatur. The Eagles took on Denton Braswell in their home opener Tuesday.

BRIDGEPORT 5, AUBREY 2

Daniel Delgadillo pitched six innings as Bridgeport beat Aubrey 5-2.

Delgadillo scattered three hits, giving up two runs and striking out four.

Michael Young relieved Delgadillo in the seventh inning, allowing no runs on one hit.

Jadon Maddux led the Bulls at the dish, going 2-for-4.

BOYD 3, BOWIE 2

The Boyd Yellowjackets won their District 8-3A opener Tuesday, defeating Bowie 3-2.

Boyd rallied in the sixth inning to get the win when Rustyn Ellis hit a two-RBI double.

Boston McIntire pitched a complete game for the Yellowjackets, surrendered two runs on two hits. He struck out seven.

ALVORD 10, ERA 0

Clayton Machal and Ace Edgett combined for a no-hitter Saturday as Alvord beat Era 10-0 in District 10-2A.

Machal started the game for the Bulldogs. He pitched three innings, surrendering no runs on no hits. He struck out six.

Edgett came in from the bullpen and struck out one in an inning of work.

Alvord used a six-run second inning to put the game away. Tanner Petree, Wright Clint, Hunter Richey and Machal had RBIs in the frame.

Chico goes undefeated in Poolville Tournament

The Chico Dragons went undefeated in the Poolville Tournament last weekend, beating Millsap, Bluff Dale, Tom Bean and Poolville.

Chico beat Bluff Dale 22-3 as Hank Bailey, Jerod Blanks, Bailey Umphress, Austin Lacy and Joseph Williams each had RBIs.

The Dragons had 18 hits in the victory.

Chico is now 6-1 overall on the season and 1-0 in District 10-2A.
