Baseball: Hicks throws gem in win over Sanger

Wilson Hicks threw five hitless and scoreless innings Friday as Decatur beat Sanger 10-6.

The southpaw struck out 10 in five innings of work.

Roman Fuller entered in relief in the sixth inning. He allowed six runs on five hits, walking five.

Dayne Chapman and Eddie Fernandez went 2-for-3 at the plate, driving in two runs apiece.

The Eagles improved to 15-12 overall and 4-4 in District 9-4A. Decatur will travel to Argyle Tuesday.

GAINESVILLE 7, BRIDGEPORT 3

Bridgeport fell to Gainesville 7-3 Friday. The Bulls dropped to 8-16 overall and 2-6 in District 9-4A.

PARADISE 4, HENRIETTA 3

Trailing Henrietta 3-1 in the bottom of the seventh, Colby Cox came through in the clutch for Paradise.

Cox cleared the bases on a 2-2 count, lacing a triple to send the Panthers home with a 4-3 walk-off win.

Paradise improved to 7-5 in District 8-3A with the victory.

Mikey Passariello started the game on the mound for the Panthers. He gave up three runs on two hits, striking out six over five innings.

Paradise will travel to Jacksboro Tuesday.

BOYD 24, CITY VIEW 0

Boyd clinched a playoff berth Friday with a 24-0 romp of Wichita Falls City View in five innings.

The Yellowjackets scored 11 runs in the third inning. Rustyn Ellis led the charge offensively, tallying seven RBIs. Dylan Couture was 3-for-3 at the dish. He plated two runs.

Creighton Witt and Payton Brown combined to throw a no-hitter for Boyd.

The Yellowjackets moved to 9-3 in District 8-3A. Boyd will travel to Henrietta Tuesday.

COLLINSVILLE 6, ALVORD 0

Collinsville shut out Alvord 6-0 last Friday. The Bulldogs managed seven hits in the game but were unable to scratch across a run.

Clayton Machal took the loss for Alvord. He scattered three runs on six hits, striking out three.

The Bulldogs dropped to 5-8 in District 11-2A.
