Baseball: Decatur cruises past Benbrook

Bodi Rascon tallied four hits and Decatur beat Benbrook 14-4 on Friday. Rascon doubled in the second, singled in the third, homered in the fourth and doubled in the fifth.

He finished the day with five RBIs.

Beau Bedford started the game for Decatur. He pitched five innings, allowing five hits and four runs. He struck out four and walked one.

The Eagles scored five runs in the fourth and six runs in the fifth.


The Bridgeport Bulls took advantage of a late-inning error by Celina to come away with a 7-5 victory on Thursday.

The Bulls were down 5-4 in the top of the seventh when an error scored two runs for Bridgeport. Michael Young earned the win for Bridgeport. He surrendered one hit in two-thirds innings of scoreless relief.

Corbin Bailey started the game for the Bulls. He lasted five and a third innings, giving up five runs on seven hits. He struck out three. Jadon Maddox and Yobany Roman each went 3-of-4 at the dish for Bridgeport.


Boyd used a six-run fourth inning to pull away from Archer City on Friday. Creighton Witt started the game for the Yellowjackets. He gave up four runs on two hits over three innings. He struck out four.

Boyd collected seven hits in the win.


The Dragons scored 20 runs in the first two innings Thursday, routing Bluff Dale 22-3.

Hank Bailey, Jerod Blanks, Bailey Umpgress, Austin Lacy and Joseph Williams all had RBIs in Chico’s 10-run second inning. The Dragons had 18 hits in the win.

Bailey and Umphress both took the hill for Chico. Combined, they surrendered three runs on one hit.
