Inside the Frame

In a sports photo, does there have to be a ball in the photo? If so, this is not a great photo. But this is the shot I waited on for three hours and it’s one of my all-time favorite images. It told the story about the emotional victory better than the hundreds of shots I took that day with a ball in the photo. I would say this image is a lot harder to take, especially to capture the moment of peak jubilation.

Nikon D4S, 200mm lens, ISO 640, 1/6000 shutter speed, F5
