Is it an ice gauge or rain gauge?

How do you keep an old man occupied when housebound by bad weather? After several months of dry weather, we have gotten a lot of moisture in the form of rain, sleet, snow and ice. But, not being able to get out of the house much is driving me crazy.

I’ve watched John Wayne, Gene Autry, Steven Segal, even Rin Tin Tin movies. I’m bored with the Olympics. It seems I have caught up on many Olympic games of ice skaters twirling on the ice, the girls in skimpy costumes, boys with funny looking hair.

I’ve cooked all week, our stomachs are too full and the refrigerator is packed with leftovers. I could feed several families with what I’ve cooked this week. My wife said she would like to cook but can’t get close to the kitchen because I’m always in there. I’ve made hot sauce, strawberry jam, I’ve put up tomatoes – the freezer is full.

I’ve played with my phone like a 6-year-old, tried to contact people with whom I’ve had no contact in years (no replies either) and sent birthday wishes to people. I’ve caught up on all the news I care to listen to and watch.

I’ve read newspapers, books, magazines, planned trips and vacations, straightened my sock drawer, my medicine cabinet and the list goes on and on.

I’m bored out of my skull; I’ve got to get out of this house. I’m open for suggestions. See, I’ve taken to my computer to try to write something.

Suggestions, anyone, for activities for an old man on snow days?
