The Wise County Republican Party is alive and kicking in 2018! The biennial County Convention was held at the Wise County 271st District Courtroom March 24. Republican delegates from among the 24 precincts in Wise County were present.

Wise County Republican Chairman Allen Williamson conducted the meeting, this being his last official act as the outgoing chairman, following 10 years of service in that role.

Newly incoming Chairman Eric Marney was nominations committee chairman. Wise County is allocated 32 delegates to go to the State Republican Convention in San Antonio June 14-16. A like number of alternate delegates could be elected. All 32 delegate positions was elected, including the newly elected chairman, as well as the past two county chairs, Allen Williamson and D. A. Sharpe.

Platform committee chairman D. A. Sharpe conducted its consideration of 10 resolutions. They had to do with advocacy regarding various issues for the state platform committee to consider for inclusion in the Republican state platform or in the administration of the party. All 10 were approved.
