Weekend Homecoming

#1 HOMECOMING FESTIVITIES

Welcome back, graduates! Three Wise County schools are celebrating homecoming this week – Boyd, Decatur and Paradise. Of course, the football games are Friday night. Paradise will take on Callisburg at 7:30 p.m., Decatur plays Graham at 7 p.m. and Boyd will face Howe for a 7:30 kickoff. Each school had a parade earlier in the week and will have various events on Saturday.

Weekend Giving Day

#2 NORTH TEXAS GIVING DAY

North Texas Giving Day – an annual 18-hour online giving extravaganza for non-profits – is Thursday, and United Way Wise County is participating this year. To celebrate, they’re hosting a special event at Trinity Street Coffee Bar where you can meet people affiliated with local agencies served by United Way, and of course, have a great cup of coffee. Giving Day is run by Communities Foundation of Texas. If participating non-profits reach certain donation goals, they’re eligible for bonuses … so give as much as you can! To make a donation, go to northtexasgivingday.org.

Weekend Public Lands

#3 PUBLIC LANDS WORK DAY

National Public Lands Day is Saturday, and to celebrate, the Backcountry Hunters and Anglers Association is having work days at various public properties across Texas, all of which allow public hunting or fishing. The group will meet at 8 a.m. at Black Creek Lake on the LBJ National Grasslands. Anyone is welcome to come help. Lunch and work supplies will be provided. Day-use fees will be waived Saturday at the Grasslands, as well as Angelina National Forest, Sabine National Forest, Davy Crockett National Forest and the Sam Houston National Forest.
