THE NUTCRACKER

A timeless classic will come to the Wise County stage this weekend as local ballet dancers perform “The Nutcracker.”

The students of Wise Ballet and Music Academy will take the stage 7 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday at Decatur High School Theater. Bring the entire family to the only outing of its kind in Wise County to kick off your holiday festivities.

Tickets can be purchased online at tututix.com/wisepag. They will also be available at the door.

TRIVIA NIGHT

Decatur Public Library’s trivia night at Trinity Street Coffee Bar is Thursday. The fun will be had 7 to 8:45 p.m., and this month’s theme is general trivia.

Contestants can sip tasty concoctions made by the Trinity Street baristas and bartenders while playing for prizes and gift certificates.

WINTER BREAK(DOWN)

Parents, brace yourselves. Your kiddos are about to be released for Christmas break, and they’re hyped. They’re candy cane crazy and ready to open presents.

Every school district returns Jan. 8, but their release dates vary. Here’s who gets out when. Slidell is the first to call it quits with an early release Wednesday. Most of the schools – Bridgeport, Chico, Decatur, Northwest and Paradise – will get out early Thursday, while Alvord and Boyd go til the bitter end with an early release on Friday.
