Enrollment at the Weatherford College Wise County campus increased by 3.8 percent for the spring 2018 semester from last spring, according to figures released by the college Thursday.

WCWC had 554 students, increasing from last year’s 534. The number of contact hours – the number of credit hours a student is enrolled – increased 2.58 percent, from 82,872 to 85,013.

“I think it’s clear that the arrow is pointed up for our Wise County campus,” said Weatherford College Interim President Brent Baker. “With a 4.9 percent increase in the fall and a 3.8 increase in the spring, our faculty and staff are serving more and more students with a continued commitment to excellence. Not to mention our dual enrollment increased in Wise County high schools. I expect those numbers to keep rising as our reputation spreads and the community continues to grow.”

Of Weatherford College’s four campuses, WCWC experienced the largest growth. The Granbury Education Center saw a 3.7 percent increase to 281 students.

The Weatherford campus and the Mineral Wells Education Center both had decreases in enrollment. The enrollment in Weatherford dropped 2.2 percent to 2,697 students. Mineral Wells fell 7.8 percent to 94 students.

The college-wide student enrollment for the spring is 5,897 – 5.5 percent more than last spring.
