A Lake Worth man accused of shooting another man at a party near Cottondale last September has been indicted.
Archie Jameson Coleman, 29, was indicted last month for deadly conduct discharge firearm, according to court records that were made public this week.
Coleman was arrested Oct. 1 after investigators determined he had shot a 28-year-old man while leaving a party in the 1200 block of County Road 3791 on Sept. 23.
According to arrest affidavits made public following Coleman’s arrest, witnesses who had been at a party at the location said after an altercation took place that did not involve Coleman, he pulled out a firearm. He was then told to leave the party, and as he did, he shot off several rounds randomly.
A short time later, Coleman returned to the party “more irate than when he left,” according to the arrest affidavit.
When a woman told Coleman to leave he pointed a gun at her, the affidavit states. The woman’s son told Coleman to stop threatening his mother, and as Coleman left for the second time, he began firing the weapon again in the direction of the people at the party, striking the woman’s son.
The victim was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth by ground ambulance where he was treated and released.
Coleman was released from jail after posting $40,000 bond.
Deadly conduct discharge firearm is a third degree felony.
