Police have arrested a man they say walked out of a local store with a pair of expensive boots.

Chief Deputy Craig Johnson with the Wise County Sheriff’s Office said an anonymous tip was received after a Crime Stopper alert was recently posted regarding the theft of a pair of Anderson Bean Boot Company Rataetna Chocolate Mad style boots stolen from NRS near Decatur on the evening of Jan. 15. Surveillance video showed a white male, entering the store with tennis shoes and exiting wearing the boots.

The boots retail for around $600.

On Tuesday, Timothy Layton Pemberton, 26, of Decatur was arrested and charged with theft of property $100 to $750. He was also booked on Azle Police Department warrants for theft under $100 and failure to appear.

He was released from the Wise County Jail after posting bail on a $1,363 bond on Wednesday.

Crime Stoppers of Wise County is still seeking information on an unrelated recent theft of western apparel at NRS.

On the night of Dec. 27, 2017, numerous unshaped Resistol cowboy hats were stolen at the store, located on County Road 4226 south of Decatur.

Anyone with information about the theft should call Crime Stoppers of Wise County at 800-643-TIPS(8477) or 940-627-TIPS. Calls may be made 24 hours a day, and callers will remain anonymous.

Crime Stoppers will pay a cash reward for the first, most accurate tip received.
