NEF awards 33 grants

The Northwest ISD Education Foundation handed out 33 innovative teaching grants, tallying $88,000 Friday.

The NEF Grant Brigade visited 17 campuses around the district, surprising educators with the various grants.

To date, more than $1.6 million have been distributed to teachers in Northwest ISD by the foundation.

Chisholm Trail Middle School received a grant of $4,524, which will be used to buy saxophones and trombones for students.

Prairie View Elementary teachers earned two grants – $2,771.43 to purchase early childhood literacy packs and $2,450 for MAKE-ing students think with mobile carts.

Seven Hills Elementary was awarded three grants – $2,500 for Popping into a Series; $450 for Escape the Library and $1,591.61 for Lights, Camera Action. The final grant will purchase a Padcaster Ultimate Studio to create a full production studio with tripod casters for students to put together a newscast.
