Bridgeport City Manager Jesica McEachern, who announced her resignation earlier this month, has been hired as Lubbock’s assistant city manager.

McEachern started working for Bridgeport nine years ago as a records and elections clerk. She was appointed city secretary in 2010 and city manager in 2015.

During McEachern’s tenure as city manager, Bridgeport completed its downtown revitalization project and received grant funding for several city improvements, including a recent $1 million grant to build a new fire station.

“I’m so sad to leave in a way,” McEachern said. “There are some really great things on the horizon for the city. But that’s how life works out sometimes.”

McEachern will oversee Lubbock’s departments of public works and engineering and development.

Her last day at Bridgeport is June 1.

“Bridgeport is a wonderful community. The people are amazing,” McEachern said. “I wish the city the best.”
