An Electra man was arrested on drug and weapon charges during a traffic stop this weekend.

Wise County Sheriff Lane Akin said a car headed south of U.S. 81/287 was stopped for a traffic violation by a deputy about two miles north of Decatur Sunday night around 10.

The deputy requested a Decatur Police Department officer and a K-9 unit respond.

“The dog detected the presence of illegal drugs in the car,” Akin said. “A subsequent search revealed more than 9 grams of methamphetamine, glass pipes with residue, five unused glass pipes, items for weighing and packaging illegal drugs and a stolen Smith and Wesson 9mm pistol.”
