A Bridgeport woman arrested for shooting a gun in a residential neighborhood last year received four years probation last week.

Shannon Geninatti Hardy

Shannon Geninatti Hardy, 41, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in exchange for four years of deferred adjudication June 25 in 271st District Court in Decatur, according to court records.

Her probation includes 240 hours of community service, and she is not to have any guns in her possession.

The incident took place Sept. 17 of last year in the 1500 block of Brush Drive. Officers responded to a call about a disturbance and found that Hardy and Johnny Armstrong had been in an argument regarding her medication. Officers found evidence she fired one round from her 9 mm at Armstrong as he ran down the street in the area of an apartment complex.

No one was injured.

Hardy was indicted by a Wise County grand jury on a second degree felony charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon last October.

Wise County Jail records indicate Hardy was arrested on March 29 for possession of a controlled substance in penalty group 3 less than 28 grams and remained in jail until June 25.

Hardy also pleaded guilty June 25 to the Class A misdemeanor drug charge in exchange for two years deferred adjudication and a $1,000 fine.

The victim in the case, Armstrong, is currently in jail for a murder charge in an unrelated incident that took place in February of this year.
