Several Democratic candidates vying for the top state offices are slated to make appearances in Decatur Wednesday night at the Texas Democratic Women of Rural North Texas forum.

Gubernatorial candidate Lupe Valdez, who is running against incumbent Greg Abbott, is scheduled to appear, along with Lieutenant Governor candidate Mike Collier, who is trying to unseat incumbent Dan Patrick.

The forum, which will feature a question-and-answer session, starts at 6:30 p.m. at the Decatur Conference Center.

“Everyone is invited, Democrat or Republican,” said Lena Wells, president of the Texas Democratic Women of Rural North Texas. “We want people to hear what the candidates have to say.”

The lineup of statewide candidates also includes Kim Olson, who is running for agriculture commissioner, and Kathy Cheng, who is running for the Texas Supreme Court. Greg Sagan, who is running for U.S. House District 13, and Kevin Lopez, who is bidding for the Texas Senate District 30 seat, will also appear.
