Decatur ISD trustees will consider designating hazardous transportation routes along U.S. 81/287 and U.S. 380 Monday night to open bus service to students living within two miles of their school.

Districts may designate a hazardous route and offer bus service to students that must walk along or cross a highway to get to campus.

The designation would affect students at Carson and Rann elementaries, Decatur Intermediate and McCarroll Middle School.

Decatur ISD Superintendent Judi Whitis plans to recommend the designations, which will allow the district to apply for additional state funds.

Also at the meeting, Director of Child Nutrition Shelly Laaser and Decatur High School Principal Chris Mogan will give a report to trustees on the closed campus lunch.

The meeting will start at 6 p.m. at the Decatur Administration Building. Closed session has been moved to the end of the meeting.
