The Bridgeport City Council voted 4-0 to approve an annual interlocal agreement with Wise County for fire protection and first responder services Monday.

The county will pay Bridgeport ‘around $55,000’ per year to assist in fires in the county, Bridgeport Mayor Randy Singleton said. In the previous agreement, the city received $50,400 in the agreement. The funding will go through the city.

“It’s largely the same from the agreement last year,” Singleton added.

The city will be required to provide fire protection and emergency response services to all persons and property within the unincorporated area that lies in Bridgeport’s designated primary service area. The contract will last from 2018-2019.
