Candidates’ spending exceeds contributions

Wise County candidates turned in a second campaign finance report Monday.

Below is a list of candidates and the information as it appears on their reports.

PRECINCT 4 JUSTICE OF THE PEACE

Todd Bailey: $0 contributions; $1,186.85 expenditures

Willie Garrett: $1,850 contributions; $8 expenditures

Contributions included $100 from Robin Melton of Runaway Bay; $250 from Randy McComis of Bridgeport; $500 from Kirby Elenburg of Runaway Bay; and $1,000 from Larry Garrett of Bridgeport.

Kent “Buck” Manoushagian: $1,900 contributions; $3,782.47 expenditures

Manoushagian contributed $1,000 to his own campaign. Other contributions included $300 each from Dana Manoushagian of Bridgeport and Margaret Davis of Uvalde; $250 from Theresa Copeland of Decatur; and $50 from Padgett W. Montgomery Jr. of Floresville.

PRECINCT 2 JUSTICE OF THE PEACE

Ashly DoByns: $332 contributions; $614.71 expenditures

All contributions were in-kind, including $120 worth that were unitemized, and two separate donations from Rex Hoskins valued at $162 for a Messenger ad and $50 for a building rental.

Callie Manning: $250 contributions; $0 expenditures

Contributions included $100 from Emily Talley of Decatur and $150 from Naomi Watts of Alvord.

Kim Redman: $100 contributions; $1,772.66 expenditures

Wendell and Whitney Wiggins of Alvord contributed $100 to Redman’s campaign.

Tammy Sosa: $1,160 contributions; $2,773.61 expenditures

Contributions included $200 and $400 anonymous donations; $200 each from Mary and Dan Wilkins of Chico and Leonard and Angela Denney of Chico; $100 from Robin Melton of Runaway Bay; and $50 from Matt Melton of Runaway Bay.

PRECINCT 2 COUNTY COMMISSIONER

Kevin Burns: $200 contributions; $549.25 expenditures

William Whiddon of Decatur contributed $200 to Burns’ campaign.

Johnny Wall: $0 contributions; $588.59 expenditures

COUNTY CLERK

Sherry Lemon: $0 contributions; $462.79 expenditures

Julie Schooling: $0 contributions; $0 expenditures

PRECINCT 3 CONSTABLE

Charles Applewhite: $1,000 contributions; $84.32 expenditures

Wesley Dingler of Rhome contributed $1,000 to Applewhite’s campaign.

Cary Mellema: Mellema turned in a report with the same information that was on his Jan. 16 report.

Terry Terry: $0 contributions; $1,177.46 expenditures

Tony White: $0 contributions; $1,066.50 expenditures

Candidates who are running unopposed and had no contributions or expenditures during this period were not required to turn in a report.

Those who did anyway include incumbents Gaylord Kennedy, Precinct 4 county commissioner; Brenda Rowe, district clerk; Mandy Hays, Precinct 3 justice of the peace; and Jan Morrow, Precinct 1 justice of the peace.

The primary election is March 6.
