Bridgeport Economic Development Director Kevin Holzbog resigned to take a job at Poco Graphite Inc. in Decatur.

Holzbog will be a member of the industrial sales team at Poco Graphite, a position he said is similar to economic development.

“In economic development, you focus on the strengths of the community, and that’s essentially what my position will be over there,” Holzbog said. “In economic development, in order to advance in the profession, if you’re recruited, you have to move to the community where the EDC is. This opportunity allows me to stay in the area and stay involved. I’ve come to enjoy the area, and I really like the people here.”

Holzbog’s last day at the EDC was Friday. He was hired as the executive director in September 2015. Holzbog was also named a member of the Texas Economic Development Council in October 2017, a position he will get to keep when he changes jobs.

“I’ll still be helping to make an economic impact locally,” he said.

EDC board member Fred Meyers said the board will meet 8 a.m. Tuesday to discuss how to proceed with hiring Holzbog’s replacement.
