The Decatur Public Library’s 2nd Annual Same Page Book Festival is Saturday and will feature local authors and sessions for readers and aspiring writers.

“We are excited to be able to bring a wide variety of authors and speakers that include new voices, diverse experiences and poetry to our community,” said library director Pat Peters.

The festival runs 1 to 5:30 p.m. and will open with an author fair. During this time, local authors will display, sell and sign their books. It will be followed by specific sessions for readers and writers.

Poets Logen Cure and Christine Irving, along with authors Jack Knox, Michael Hawron and Maryann Miller will talk about their work and read excerpts.

Ray Villareal will teach a writing workshop, and author Dedrie Marie and Texas Association of Authors Director B. Alan Bourgeois will lead a second session for writers.

Closing keynote speakers are Doug and Carol Hutchison, authors of “Behind the Texas Badge.” Doug spent 39 years as a Texas law enforcement officer, and Carol, Doug’s wife of 31 years, is an award-winning writer and photographer.

They put together a coffee table book, pairing stories and photographs of 103 Texas law enforcement officers, including Wise County Sheriff Lane Akin. After they speak, the Hutchisons, along with Akin and other featured law enforcement officers will be available for a book signing.
