#2 SMILES FOR MILES

Families will be celebrated Wednesday at Wise County National Adoption Day.

Adoption proceedings begin at 9:30 a.m. in the 271st District Courtroom at the Wise County Courthouse in Decatur, and the public is invited to witness and celebrate with the families.

This is the third year attorney Mary Lois Spain-Sipes and has organized the event in conjunction with CASA of Wise and Jack Counties to raise awareness of the number of children in foster care waiting to find a permanent home. Spain-Sipes said three adoptions will be finalized at the local celebration next week. Following the court proceedings, there will be a hamburger and hot dog lunch at noon at the First United Methodist Church in Decatur.

Veterans

#3 HONORING VETERANS

Veterans Day is Nov. 11, but several activities honoring veterans are Nov. 10 and the week following the Sunday holiday. Read next week’s All Around Wise for a complete list of local ceremonies and events. Plus our annual Veterans Day section will be inserted in the Nov. 10 edition of the Messenger.
