Relay For Life of Wise County is having its annual Survivor Dinner 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 2, at the First Baptist Church, 1200 Preskitt Road, in Decatur.

There will be bingo, door prizes and a silent auction.

Relay for Life is April 27 at the McCarroll Middle School track.



The Decatur and Bridgeport soccer teams both won their bi-district playoff games Thursday night. The Eagles edged Mineral Wells 3-2 and the Bulls routed Brownwood 7-1. Decatur will play Pampa in the area round next week. Bridgeport will take on Clint.

CASA of Wise and Jack Counties is kicking off Child Abuse Prevention Month at 1 p.m. Monday on the steps of the Wise County Courthouse in Decatur. County Judge J.D. Clark will read a proclamation and the first of 3,000 blue pinwheels will be placed on the courthouse lawn.

CASA hopes to pack the square with citizens ready to stand up and keep children safe. Those in attendance are asked to wear blue, the official color of the campaign. They’re also invited to bring homemade signs with messages showing a commitment to keep Wise County kids safe.



To cast a ballot in the May city council and school board elections, you must be registered to vote. The last day to do so is Thursday, April 5.

Bluebonnets are popping up amid the new buds and beautiful spring color after this week’s rain. Assistant Publisher Kristen Tribe spotted a patch along U.S. 380 between Bridgeport and Decatur this week. Keep your eye out for these Lone Star lovelies; their season is short.
