Reunion

#1: READYING FOR REUNION

Wise County’s weeklong party at the Old Settlers Reunion will get started next weekend with the campers’ dinner and cabin decorating contest July 22.

Reunion officially starts July 23 and will run through July 28 with nightly events, including the Decatur Chamber of Commerce “Put Yo Money Where Yo Mouth is” Washer Tournament July 24.

Motorcyle

#2: HIGH-FLYING ACTION

Get your motor running and head to Oak Hill Raceway July 21-22 for a weekend full of high-flying, thrilling motocross action.

Riders will be at the raceway on County Road 1270 in Alvord for the 42nd Fly Racing International Motocross Final. Practice will be held July 21 and racing will be throughout the day July 22.

Admission for the event is $15.

Roping

#3: ROPING SCHOOL

Roping and rodeo in Wise County is kind of a big deal. For ropers breaking into the sport, NRS will hold an introduction to team roping July 20-22 at the NRS Event Center.

Students do not have to bring their own horse.

Call NRS at 940-393-7019 for information.

Hot Dog

#4: PASS THE MUSTARD

HOT DOG! Wednesday, July 18 is National Hot Dog Day and your day to grab a couple of dogs and chow down.

While a hot dog is best enjoyed at a ballgame with mustard, onions and sweet relish, you don’t have to make a trip to Arlington. Please be careful if firing up the grill. Also, don’t try to beat Joey Chestnut in a hot dog eating contest.

Heat

#5: STAY COOL

After a little reprieve from the summer heat, the mercury will again head north to the triple digits next week.

The National Weather Service is predicting a high of 100 Tuesday and 99 on Monday and Wednesday. How long until fall?
