Five people were transported to area hospitals Thursday morning from a three-vehicle accident on Farm Road 407, just east of the BNSF railroad tracks near the Dollar General in New Fairview.

Department of Public Safety Trooper David Marcoux said an eastbound silver Ford pickup driven by Tyler Raby, 21, of Bridgeport struck a red Ford driven by Joshua Gomez, 27, of Decatur, which had slowed for traffic, from behind and forced it into the westbound lane. Gomez’ truck was then hit by a westbound SUV driven by Daisy Gonzalez, 27, of Rhome.

Gonzalez and a child passenger were transported to Wise Health System in Decatur. Two other children that were passengers in the vehicle were transported by ambulance to Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth. All the children were under 10 years of age.

Gomez was transported to Medical City Denton.

Raby was uninjured.

Marcoux said none of the injuries were life threatening.

Raby was cited for failure to control speed. Gomez received a citation for no driver’s license.

The accident closed FM 407 for much of the morning. Traffic was diverted onto Pioneer Road and FM 2264.
