Three people were injured in a two-vehicle wreck around 8 a.m. Thursday near the Slidell school campus.

Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Chesley Womack said a Jeep driven by Caitlin Pruett, 21, was southbound on a driveway near the elementary school when she apparently failed to yield at the intersection with County Road 2822. She struck a southbound 1962 Ford F-250 pickup driven by Stone Coston, 17, who was on his way to school. Classes at Slidell resumed on Wednesday following the winter break.

Both drivers and a passenger in Coston’s vehicle, his 13-year-old sister Jaden, were injured.

Pruett and Jaden Coston were taken by ambulance to Denton Regional Hospital. Stone Coston was taken by private vehicle to the same hospital.

Womack said the injuries were “serious, but not life-threatening.”

He said Pruett may have been blinded by the sun and didn’t see the other vehicle.

The accident remains under investigation, he added.
