Two motorcyclists were hospitalized Wednesday afternoon following separate crashes in Newark and Greenwood.

The accidents happened within hours of each other, and both riders were transported to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth.

The first, James Blackwood, crashed along County Road 2640 in Greenwood. His stepson, Brian Moore, said Blackwood broke his femur and collarbone in the crash. Moore said Blackwood is in stable condition but doesn’t remember what happened.

Chais Dunlap, 21, of Jacksboro was injured in the second crash.

According to a statement from the Department of Public Safety, Dunlap was speeding and lost control of his 1987 Suzuki motorcycle as he traveled north on Farm Road 718 near Newark.

He hit the back of a 1997 GMC pickup. The driver of the pickup, Johnny Morton, 31, of Newark was not injured.

Dunlap was flown to JPS. Family members reported via social media that he was in stable condition.
