A man was flown to a Denton hospital following an accident on Business U.S. 380 in Decatur Wednesday afternoon.

Kirk Waterman, 53, of Bridgeport was flown by a PHI medical helicopter to Medical City Denton. Waterman was driving a Toyota SUV that collided head-on with a Chevrolet truck on Business 380 around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Decatur officer Royce Gastineau said the Toyota was westbound and crossed into the eastbound lane of traffic, striking the Chevrolet driven by Robert Cook, 52, of Decatur.

Decatur Police Chief Rex Hoskins said Waterman failed to negotiate a curve and speed was a factor.

Gastineau said eye-witnesses stated Waterman was speeding and swerving moments before the wreck.

Cook was transported to Wise Health System.
