A woman was flown to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth following a rollover wreck Friday afternoon on U.S. 81/287 south of Decatur.

Department of Public Safety spokesman Richard Hunter said the driver of a Kia SUV, identified as 71-year-old Carolyn Watkins, of Bridgeport, rear-ended a Dodge Ram pickup that was following a slow moving convoy of mowers that were working in the area. Watkins suffered undisclosed injuries.

Cody Crocker witnessed the wreck and helped tend to the driver, who was briefly trapped in the vehicle.

“It was crazy,” Crocker said. “[The driver] was a little shaken up. [The car] rolled like three times.”

Traffic southbound on 287 was shut down for roughly 30 minutes while crews worked to clear the scene. The driver of the Dodge, 30-year-old Loyd Jones, was not injured.
