BOYD

CLAY SHOOT – The Boyd Lions Club will have its 2nd Annual Clay Shoot Sept. 22 in Boyd. The fundraiser benefits the club’s scholarship program and the Boyd Spirit of Christmas. To make a team, call Chip Fisher, 817-791-3522.

BRIDGEPORT

GARDEN CLUB – The Bridgeport Garden Club is having its monthly meeting 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Bridgeport Community Center. DECATUR

BACK THE BLUE GOLF TOURNEY – The Decatur Police Department’s fourth annual Back the Blue Glow Ball golf tournament is Sept. 15 at Bridgeport Country Club. The four-person best ball tournament starts at 4 p.m. Registration is $50 per person or $200 per team and includes a meal, glow balls and prizes. CITIZENS ACADEMY – Decatur Police Department will present its Citizen Police Academy class beginning Sept.10. The free 13-week program will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Mondays at the police department. Necessary paperwork is available at the Decatur PD Facebook page or the city of Decatur website. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – The Decatur Main Street program is looking for volunteers to man the Visitors Center 2 to 5 p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays. To help, call Melinda Reeves, 940-399-9670.

KNITTING CIRCLE – The Knit Wits and Crochet Nuts meet 6-8 p.m. every Thursday at the Decatur Public Library. Call 940-433-3847.

DOMINOES ANYONE? – Anybody who plays 42 or would like to learn is invited to the Decatur Senior Citizen Center at 6 p.m. on Thursdays. The center is located at 1200 N. Miller St.

DECATUR FARMERS MARKET – The Decatur Farmers Market will reopen 8 a.m. Saturday at the Wise County Fairgrounds with a selection of fall produce along with local honey, baked goods, jams, pickles, farm raised beef, free range eggs and artisan goods.

LAKE BRIDGEPORT

FISHING TOURNEY – Devon Energy will hold its 9th Keepin’ It Reel bass fishing tournament and fundraiser Saturday at Lake Bridgeport. Registration is 5 a.m. at Wise County Park. RHOME

VETERANS EVENTS – Rhome Veterans will hold several events this month at the Rhome Public Library. “The Stray” will be presented during movie night at 6:30 p.m. Friday. The Rhome Veterans auxiliary meeting is 9:30 a.m. Saturday and will be followed at 10 by the Veterans meeting. The group will sponsor a trip to Museum of the Americas, leaving 10 a.m. Sept. 22. CANDIDATE FORUM – The Texas Democratic Women of Rural North Texas will host a forum for Democratic candidates at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 12 at the Decatur Conference Center. The question-and-answer session will feature these candidates seeking state-wide office: Lupe Valdez, governor; Mike Collier, lieutenant governor; Kim Olson, agriculture commissioner and Kathy Cheng, Texas Supreme Court. Other candidates vying in local races will include Vanessa Adia, House District 12, Greg Sagan, House District 13 and Kevin Lopez, Senate District 30. Gilberto Hinojosa, Chairman of the Texas Democratic Party, will moderate.

JOINT CHAMBER LUNCHEON – The Bridgeport and Decatur Chamber of Commerces will hold a joint luncheon 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 20 at the Decatur Conference Center. Registration is $15. The keynote speaker is Suzie Humphreys.

STREET DANCE – A street dance benefiting all Wise County fire departments is 8 to 11 p.m. Oct. 6 on the Decatur Square. Admission is free, but money will be raised through a silent auction, raffle and donations. The family friendly event will have food trucks and live music by Zac Wilkerson and Zach Nytomt.

BEE CLUB – The Wise Texas Bee Club meets at 6 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month at the Bridgeport Library.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – Wise County Committee on Aging is seeking volunteers to deliver Meals on Wheels to homebound seniors in Wise County. A valid driver’s license is required, and a background check will be performed. Call 940-627-5329 or stop by 300 N. Trinity St., Suite A, in Decatur. Cooks are also needed at the kitchen in Chico.
