CHICO

FAMILY PLAY DATES – Chico Public Library is holding its Family Place Play Dates 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday. During the event, child-led exploration and discovery is encouraged through play and social interaction. Each week a local family service professional will be on hand to answer questions or concerns on topics such as early literacy, food and nutrition, music and play, child development, speech, hearing and language. DECATUR

GENEALOGY 101 – Join genealogy researcher Patti Gillespie 6 p.m. Mondays June 4 to July 9 at the Decatur Public Library to learn the basics of how to trace your family tree. The class is free, but registration is required and space is limited. COMMUNITY MARKET – The Decatur Community Market will open at 8 a.m. Saturday at the Wise County Fairgrounds with local produce, eggs, meat, jelly and jams, pickles, baked goods, tamales and artisan items. Coupons for $5 off the Texas Coalition of Animal Protection vaccination clinic June 16 will be available.

CHAMBER GOLF TOURNEY – The 30th annual Decatur Chamber of Commerce’s Father’s Day Golf Tournament is June 15 at Decatur Golf Club. Registration is $100 per player on four-man teams and includes lunch, two mulligans, 25 raffle tickets and beverages on the course. Registration is at 8 a.m. with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. DOMINOES ANYONE? – Anybody who plays 42 or would like to learn is invited to the Decatur Senior Citizen Center at 6 p.m. on Thursdays. The center is located at 1200 N. Miller St.

GREENWOOD

HOMECOMING REUNION – The Greenwood Homecoming Association’s annual homecoming reunion luncheon is at noon Sunday at the Greenwood Firehall. Everyone is encouraged to attend and bring a covered dish and/or dessert. The Greenwood Homecoming Association will provide tea and water.

WISE COUNTY

BLOOD DRIVE – Wise Electric Cooperative will sponsor a blood drive 12:30 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at 1900 North Trinity in Decatur. The Carter Blood Care bus will be located in the parking lot of Wise Electric. No appointment is necessary.

CINDERELLA TICKETS – Wise Performing Arts Guild is selling tickets for “Cinderella and the Glass Slipper,” a ballet featuring the dancers of Wise Ballet and Music Academy. SEEKING VOLUNTEERS – Solaris Hospice needs volunteers. Those who choose to participate will undergo a background check, drug screening and TB testing. Training is provided. Contact Director of Volunteer Services Caitlyn Littlejohn, clittlejohn@solarisfamily.com or 940-627-1011.

RED CROSS VOLUNTEERS – The American Red Cross is looking for volunteers to serve on the Local Disaster Action Team to respond to local disasters such as house fires and tornadoes. Call Melvin Castleberry, 940-210-4908.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – Wise County Committee on Aging is seeking volunteers to deliver Meals on Wheels to homebound seniors in Wise County. A valid driver’s license is required, and a background check will be performed. Call 940-627-5329 or stop by 300 N. Trinity St., Suite A, in Decatur. Cooks are also needed at the kitchen in Chico.

ALZHEIMER’S SUPPORT GROUP – If you care for, or care about, someone with Alzheimer’s, attend the Wise Alzheimer’s Group in the boardroom at the Wise Health System West Campus at 7 p.m. June 5. Call Richard, 940-255-0244.

FORAGE FIELD TOUR – The forage field tour Thursday will provide a unique opportunity to see how different herbicide and fertilizer applications affect Bermuda grass forage production. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., and the program at 9. The cost is $10, and two Continuing Education Units for a pesticide applicator’s license will be available.
