BRIDGEPORT

FUEL FOR A CURE – The Bridgeport Women’s Club put together Fuel for a Cure, a gift card program that helps current cancer patients in Wise County. Drop off gift cards for gas at The Cancer Center at Wise Health System. Call Laura Tanner, 940-626-2300, option 6.

DECATUR

KNITTING CIRCLE – The Knit Wits and Crochet Nuts meet 6-8 p.m. every Thursday at the Decatur Public Library. Call 940-433-3847.

DOMINOES ANYONE? – Anybody who plays 42 or would like to learn is invited to the Decatur Senior Citizen Center at 6 p.m. on Thursdays. The center is located at 1200 N. Miller St.

PARADISE

FIREFIGHTER BASH – The Paradise Volunteer Fire Department’s Firefighter Bash is Saturday at the fire hall. A boot drive will take place in the morning. Afternoon events from 3-9 p.m. will include barbecue, bands and a silent bake auction.

RHOME

LIBRARY EVENTS – Rhome Public Library has preschool story time 11 a.m. every Wednesday. Children participate in learning activities, including songs. STEAM meets 4:30-5:30 p.m. every second Tuesday to conduct various science and technology experiments. Call 817-636-2767.

WISE COUNTY

SCOTTISH FESTIVAL – The 32nd Annual Texas Scottish Festival and Highland Games is May 11-13 at the Wise County Fairgrounds in Decatur. The event will feature a professional heavy athletics competition, drawing athletes from across the country, including world champions. There will also be highland dancing, live music, traditional food, clan tents, a children’s area and a myriad of Scots and Celtic wares for sale. Hours are 5 p.m. to midnight Friday, 9 a.m. to midnight Saturday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

CHAMBER GOLF TOURNEY – The Wise County Chamber of Commerce’s fourth annual golf tournament is set for 8 a.m. May 19 at Decatur Golf Club. Call Kayla Jones at 940-399-3291 or email kaylasuniqueeye@gmail.com.

SEEKING VOLUNTEERS – Solaris Hospice needs volunteers. Those who choose to participate will undergo a background check, drug screening and TB testing. Training is provided. Contact Director of Volunteer Services Caitlyn Littlejohn, clittlejohn@solarisfamily.com or 940-627-1011.

RED CROSS VOLUNTEERS – The American Red Cross is looking for volunteers to serve on the Local Disaster Action Team to respond to local disasters such as house fires and tornadoes. Call Melvin Castleberry, 940-210-4908.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – Wise County Committee on Aging is seeking volunteers to deliver Meals on Wheels to homebound seniors in Wise County. A valid driver’s license is required, and a background check will be performed. Call 940-627-5329 or stop by 300 N. Trinity St., Suite A, in Decatur. Cooks are also needed at the kitchen in Chico.

DAY OF PRAYER – The National Day of Prayer, based on Congressional action and presidential proclamation, is Thursday. A service will be held at noon at the Wise County Courthouse.
