BRIDGEPORT

BLOOD DRIVE – Stagecoach Rehabilitation on U.S. 380 in Bridgeport is having a blood drive 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. Donors receive a free T-shirt and will be entered in a drawing for zoo passes. Call Robin Sanders, 940-683-8500.

BOONSTOCK – The Boonsville/Balsora Volunteer Fire Department will hold their annual fundraiser, Boonstock, 5 p.m. Saturday at the Boonsville Fire Hall. The event will feature a brisket dinner, hot dogs for the kids, live music, raffle and auction. FUEL FOR A CURE – The Bridgeport Women’s Club put together Fuel for a Cure, a gift card program that helps current cancer patients in Wise County. Drop off gift cards for gas at The Cancer Center at Wise Health System. Call Laura Tanner, 940-626-2300, option 6.

DECATUR

KNITTING CIRCLE – The Knit Wits and Crochet Nuts meet 6-8 p.m. every Thursday at the Decatur Public Library. Call 940-433-3847.

DOMINOES ANYONE? – Anybody who plays 42 or would like to learn is invited to the Decatur Senior Citizen Center at 6 p.m. on Thursdays. The center is located at 1200 N. Miller St.

SUMMER SAFETY FESTIVAL – The First United Methodist Church of Decatur will hold a Summer Safety and Fun Festival 4-6 p.m. Saturday in the church parking lot. The festival will include activities and information about ways to stay safe and have fun during summer vacation. The church will offer free hot dogs, water and bottles of sunblock. The event will also include a water bounce house and Kona Ice food truck. Carter BloodCare will hold a blood drive.

THIRD SATURDAY MARKET – The Decatur Community Market will return to the Wise County Fairgrounds at 9 a.m. Saturday. As a tribute to fallen veterans a butterfly tree will be made.

GREENWOOD

BRISKETS – The Greenwood Masonic Lodge will be selling 40 briskets for the Memorial Day holiday. The briskets are $60 each . Call 817-992-4180 or 940-255-2782 to reserve. The briskets will be ready for pick up at the pavilion in Greenwood from 9-11 a.m. May 26.

RHOME

LIBRARY EVENTS – Rhome Public Library has preschool story time 11 a.m. every Wednesday. Children participate in learning activities, including songs. STEAM meets 4:30-5:30 p.m. every second Tuesday to conduct various science and technology experiments. Call 817-636-2767.

RHOME VETERANS EVENTS – Rhome Veterans will hold several events in the month of May. The group will place flags at Aurora Cemetery May 25, leaving from the Rhome Veterans Park at 6 p.m. The Memorial Day ceremony is 11 a.m. May 26. On May 29, the group will retrieve flags from the cemetery at 11 a.m.

WISE COUNTY

CINDERELLA TICKETS – Wise Performing Arts Guild is selling tickets for “Cinderella and the Glass Slipper,” a ballet featuring the dancers of Wise Ballet and Music Academy. RED CROSS VOLUNTEERS – The American Red Cross is looking for volunteers to serve on the Local Disaster Action Team to respond to local disasters such as house fires and tornadoes. Call Melvin Castleberry, 940-210-4908.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – Wise County Committee on Aging is seeking volunteers to deliver Meals on Wheels to homebound seniors in Wise County. A valid driver’s license is required, and a background check will be performed. Call 940-627-5329 or stop by 300 N. Trinity St., Suite A, in Decatur. Cooks are also needed at the kitchen in Chico.

FOSSIL GROUP MEETING – The Wise County Fossil, Rock, and Mineral Society will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Weatherford College Wise County campus. The program will be presented by Dr. Davey Edwards.

RETIRED SCHOOL PERSONNEL GROUP – The Wise County Retired School Personnel will host a meeting Thursday at the Decatur Conference Center. Call 940-575-2341 by Sunday for lunch reservations. The program will include installation of new officers and bingo.

UPPER TRINITY RIBBON CUTTING – The Upper Trinity Groundwater Conservation District will hold a ribbon cutting and open house at 1 p.m. Monday at its facility at 1859 W. Texas 199 in Springtown.

COFFEE NETWORK – The Wise County Chamber of Commerce’s May Coffee Network is 8 a.m. May 23 at Aurora City Hall.

MADE 2 THRIVE VOLUNTEERS – Made 2 Thrive special needs baseball is in need of volunteers. Games are 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Kenny Renshaw Park. If interested come see us at the volunteer table or contact Claudia Davila at butterfly8489@gmail.com.
